Monday July 29 was the beginning of my 15th year of teaching! I am a native New Yorker and attended The State University of New York at Potsdam. I moved to NC in December 1991 to find a teaching job and to follow the future Mr. Walsh. I substitute taught for one year in Wake County and in July 1993 started my first year at West Lake Elementary- Second grade. I taught there for 3 years while working on my Masters in Education at UNC Chapel Hill. I left in 1996 to go back to grad school full time to finish my degree. I graduated in 1997 with my Masters in Education- Reading. In June 1997 Mr. Walsh and I headed to the UK for his work and I ended up teaching there for two years at Furze Platt Infant School -First grade. While there, we traveled all over Europe and even headed to Egypt for a week. When we moved back in 1999, we promptly had our first son, Thomas. He is a sophomore at NC State. Ben followed along and he is an 11th grader at Green Hope High School. They keep us busy with cross country, soccer, boy scouts, and youth group. I stayed home with the boys for about 10 years and taught preschool during that time. In 2009, I returned to teaching. This is my fifth year at Olive Chapel and I am excited to SAIL with all my Third graders this year!
